Homebuyers in a quandary as builder plays truant

Is it a fit case for Real Estate Regulatory Authority? Or should the Supreme Court take suo moto notice of the plight of the home buyers of Earth Towne in Noida Extension, who have booked flats eight years ago in 2009 and are yet to get possession, and come to their aid?.

The builder had promised to hand over flats in 2015, but the structure is nowhere complete. On Sunday, some 100 home buyers held a protest demonstration at the project site.

Buyers said that they booked flats in 2009 and had already paid 80 per cent to 95 per cent of the flat cost to the builder. Many of the home buyers were paying EMI to banks.

Satya Mitra, a buyer told City Spidey that whenever they tried to meet the officials of the builder, they failed. “They never meet us,” he said.

"I had also approached the UP CM for help and even met  Satish Mahana, Uttar Pradesh industrial development minister along with Noida Authority CEO,  but no action has been taken till the date," Mitra added.

Satya MItra also said that Noida Authority has given them June 23 next as the date for tripartite meeting between home buyers, the builder and officials of the Noida Authority.

When City Spidey tried to speak the representatives of the developer, they were unavailable for comment.

The project has more than 3000 flats to come up in 34 towers.
