Residents of Shakti Khand II were outraged after Tulsi Gaur, a retired IAS officer and a resident of Loni, buried his wife in one of his vacant plots in the Indirapuram neighbourhood.
In a rather shocking and strange incident, a resident of Shakti Khand II in Indirapuram allegedly buried his dead wife in one of his own plots today.
According to sources, Tulsi Gaur, a retired IAS officer and a resident of Loni, owns three plots in Shakti Khand II. He had constructed buildings on two of them, while one of the plots was left vacant. It was in this vacant plot that he buried his wife today around 3 pm. According to sources, Gaur's wife was ill and had died a natural death at a hospital.
This act by Gaur drew stiff opposition from residents of the neighbourhood, who objected to the burial saying it was improper to bury someone in the middle of a residential area. Angry residents soon gathered in the vicinity and protested against what Gaur had done.
Speaking to City Spidey, Krishan Mishra, a resident of Shakti Khand II, said the incident caused an outrage among residents, who later called the police.
Speaking to City Spidey, Preety Jaiswal, ADM City of Ghaziabad, said that after preliminary inquiry, Tulsi's act seemed legal and well within the binds of the law. "According to Tulsi, the plot was registered in his wife Shilpa Gaur's name, and it was her dying wish to bury her in the plot. He even said that the district administration could issue notices in case of any public grievance and that he would deal with it in court," Jaiswal added.
She said that the problem was mainly a tussle between public sentiment and Tulsi's legal rights.
"Several other objections have also been raised by residents of the neighbourhood. Further action will be decided only after proper inquiry," Jaiswal added.
