This is what the authorities promised...and we are watching

Will these officials from across Delhi-NCR really walk the talk?

This is what the authorities promised...and we are watching

GURGAON

June 5: Raj Kumar, road safety officer, on the traffic diversions put in place owing to construction of flyovers and underpasses

“The diversions will remain in place for at least 40 days. Due to stringent timelines, we had to take the measures immediately.”

June 3: Hari Kesh, junior engineer, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), on the problems with overgrown trees in Sector 56

"Most of the power problems were being caused due to the branches touching the cables and causing short circuits. Branches coming in contact with high-voltage cables causes multiple problems. Pruning them was necessary."

NOIDA

June 6: Debasis Panda, CEO of Greater Noida Authority, on the builder-buyer issues

"The Authority is trying its best to resolve the builder-buyer issues. Greater Noida Authority officials have also been asked to form a redressal cell for the buyers.”

June 5: Bhuvan Yadav, junior engineer with Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), on the contaminated water flowing through Noida's irrigation drain

"It has come to our notice that waste water from the city, which should ideally be treated, is being released into the drain by the Noida Authority.  We are going to check the inlets and outlets of all seven of the Authority's sewage treatment plants within a couple of days. The drain is contaminated owing to manufacturing units in Kondli flooding industrial effluent into it. Although UPPCB is aware of the harmful gases emanating from the drain, we do not have any plan to monitor them in near future. We have been monitoring Noida's ambient air quality through two manual and one automatic and two manual equipment installed across the city. We, however, do not have any orders from the government to keep a track of the gases emanating from the drain."

GHAZIABAD

June 6: Ravindra Godbole, secretary of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), on the issue of a man burying his wife in a vacant plot in a residential area

"The Authority had allotted the plot for residential purposes but did not have any guidelines barring the usage of the land as a graveyard. There are no guidelines or rules for usage of land as graveyards or crematoriums. We have also responded to the queries of the district administration over the issue."

June 5: SP Shisodia, chief of horticulture, GDA, on planting Kalpvriksha trees

"The department is planning to plant Kalpvriksha trees — Baobab or adansonia digitata — all over Ghaziabad."

EAST DELHI

June 3: Neema Bhagat, East Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor, on poor sanitation in the area

“We have inspected the area and are working on it. A group of residents had approached me last week and I have directed the officials and councilor of the area to resolve the issues as soon as possible.”

THE NCR

June 5: Dr Mangu Singh, Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), on the introduction of e-rickshaws across Metro stations in the NCR

"DMRC tries to incorporate eco-friendly initiatives in all its spheres of functioning. The idea behind a dedicated e-rickshaw service at the Metro stations is to encourage commuters to use non-polluting public transport modes over personal vehicles."
