District administration has plans to set up special Aadhaar card enrolment centres across the city so that no one gets left out.

Soon Aadhaar camps will be held and enrolment centres set up at group housing societies, residential colonies by the district administration. The district administration will hold camps if the RWAs come out with specific requests, said deputy commissioner Hardeep Singh.

He was addressing citizens who congregated at the office of a Sushank Lok social activist Anil Yadav, who organised a two-day Aadhaar card enrolment camp at his office in C Block on Saturday. Aadhaar card enrolment centres will be set up across the city, he said.

Gurgaon has a population of 2,615,963 (2.6 million). At present awareness campaign about Aadhaar card was on to educate the people about this important document and ask the people not to miss out on enrolment this time around.

The initiative was taken after many residents missed out applying initially and approached the authorities for holding such camps.

Around 200 residents from DLF IV, , Sushant Lok I and even Kanhai village visited the camp and got themselves enrolled on Sunday said the organisers.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hardeep Singh said a schedule would be prepared to set up Aadhaar camps in various societies soon. “I have asked the different RWAs to send a request to the district administration office for organising special enrolment camps,” said Singh.

There are already 439 centres across the district where the administration is enrolling the residents. Anyone who missed getting enrolled during the weekend camp can visit Building Centre, Opposite Mini Secretariat, Vikas Sadan, Gurgaon, Near Rajiv Chowk for applying for Aadhaar card.

The agencies have been asked to send a progress report to the city magistrate every week, sources said.

Anil Yadav, organiser of the camp, said, “We are getting a very good response from the residents. Many fresh applications and few came for corrections too. We wanted to make it convenient for the senior citizens majorly for whom travelling is a major issue.”
