Noida is set to enjoy the festival of colour, but in an eco-friendly way.
Most residents City Spidey spoke to said they preferred dry, organic colour to the ubiquitous cheap powders in city markets. They also seemed reluctant to waste water during the festival.
Shruti Mittal, a resident of Sector 23, said this was the second year she was opting for herbal colour. “I play Holi with my children and want it to be as safe for them as possible. Kids are prone to allergies and skin infections, and as such, herbal colours are the best bet. They are skin-friendly and do not have any side-effects,” she said.
Noida has seen a sharp rise in the sale of organic colour this year. Pavan Kumar, a shopkeeper in the Sector 27 market, said he has sold 25 per cent more herbal colour this time than cheap chemical ones.
“It does not matter if it is costlier,” said another shopkeeper of the same sector, Amar Jeet Kumar. “Half a kilogram of organic colour costs Rs 300, but residents still prefer this.”
This is definitely good news on Holi.
