Noida Authority brings eco-friendly tech to swiftly repair potholes Repair work in progress on a road in Sector 90

Signage that read “Men at work – road under construction – take a diversion” are now things of the past in Noida as far as repair of roads is concerned.

From June 14, Noida Authority began using a new technology called the Jetpatcher machine that can repair potholes on roads in less time and with less effort compared to earlier methods.

Authority officials claim that potholes can now be repaired within 20 minutes. Moreover, commuters using the road being repaired would not be asked to take another route due to the ongoing work.

The Jetpatcher machine first cleans the affected area. It is then filled and cured, and is ready for use. The repairs have a long lasting effect. The Authority has spent Rs 1.25 crore to purchase one Jetpatcher machnine.

BN Singh, project engineer of Noida Authority, told City Spidey that the machine was eco-friendly, and potholes can be repaired in monsoon and winter season too. “Earlier, manual method was used to fill potholes on roads. In manual method, hot mix plants are required. But, with this technology, they will not be needed,” he added.

HS Yadav, chief engineer of Noida Authority, said, “We have now started a pilot project for roads from Sector 90 to Sector 137. The Authority will extend it to other parts of the city as filling a pit in 20 minutes is no less of a revolution.”
