Government agencies, including the three municipal corporation departments of Delhi, seem to have swung into action to tackle waterlogging ahead of the rains.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has invited residents to give a call, send an SMS or WhatsApp on 813018822 with a clear picture of the waterlogged area — be it stormwater drains or sewer lines. They can also write in to monsoondelhi2017@gmail.com.

Last week, mayor of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), Neema Bhagat, along with area municipal councillors and officials, inspected areas that reported waterlogging last year.

Bhagat said, “EDMC is inspecting every area from where waterlogging was reported in the monsoons last year. We have deployed both senior and junior officials for the task. But resident cooperation will be important to get spot pictures of waterlogged drains, sewers or lanes — anything that helps us identify the areas.”
