PK Aggarwal, additional CEO of Noida Authority, and its deputy CEO, Saumaya Srivastava, conducted an inspection of the Elevated Road today before it opens to public tomorrow.

Industrial development minister Satish Mahana is scheduled to inaugurate the road tomorrow at 5 pm. The 6-km Elevated Road, from Vishwa Bharti School in Sector 28 to Sector 61, flies over the existing Master Plan 2 Road.

“Noida Authority officials are busy in preparations ahead of the minister’s visit, who will also review the progress of other under-construction infrastructure projects. Suresh Rana, minister of state (independent), sugarcane, sugar mills and industrial development, is also to accompany Mahana,” an official confirmed.

Officials said that the Elevated Road will ease traffic issues around residential areas of sectors 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31 and 33.

The Authority had opened a 2.8-km stretch of the Elevated Road in October last year to streamline traffic.

SC Mishra, project engineer of Noida Authority, told City Spidey, “We had a trial run on the road and all preparations are complete, including finishing work.”

“Motorists can now enjoy a smooth ride. The issues of dust and air pollution on this route have already been addressed with patchwork on the road under the elevated stretch,” Mishra added.

Work on the road was started in October 2014. Initially, the project was scheduled to be completed by October 2017. However, Authority officials were directed by the Samajwadi Party government to complete work by 2016, ahead of the the assembly elections. But work got delayed because the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had banned the use of hot mix plants, necessary for construction.
