Come April, beware of e-challan: For commuters in Noida, it will be impossible to avoid challan for traffic violation from next month. By breaking traffic rules, you will not only invite e-challan but also create a profile of yours in the national register. Hence, non-payment of challan will land you in bigger trouble. Subsequent offence anywhere in the country may get your licence cancelled.
Robbery bid foiled: Noida police have arrested four robbers on Monday near Sorkha village after a hot pursuit. The criminals, who were planning a robbery, exchanged fire with a raiding crime branch team before being overpowered. The accused, identified as Surajveer, Dharmender, Praveen and Rajan Verma, are said to be hardened criminals.
Ghaziabad
No payment, no water: Water crisis looms over Vasundhara zone. The UP Jal Nigam has threatened to stop water supply to Vaishali, Kausambhi, Vasundhara and delta colonies of Brij Vihar, Surya Nagar, Ramprashtha and Rampuri for non-payment of dues. It has set a deadline till March 31 for the Ghazaiabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) to clear the Rs 16-crore bills to avoid action.
Clearance eludes GDA projects: Several infrastructural projects pending with the GDA have to wait longer for clearance. The board meeting of the GDA, which was to take up the proposals, has been postponed indefinitely. The meeting was scheduled for Tuesday.
Gurgaon
E-rickshaw for public transport: The commuting woes of Udyog Vihar of Gurgaon are going to be eased soon. The HSIIDC will launch e-rickshaw services in the area. Apart from decongesting traffic, the move aims at giving the residents a public commute option.
