Homebuyers of this Ghaziabad project demanded an exact date of possession of their flats. Delivery was due in 2013.
Flat buyers of Mahagun Puram Phase II, a residential society in Ghaziabad, today staged a protest in front of the developer's office in Sector 63, Noida.
The protesters demanded an exact date for possession of flats, and said that if the builder couldn't give them that, it should give back their money.
The project has four towers and 700 flats.
Buyers said construction of the project had started way back in 2010 and that the builder was supposed to hand over flats in 2013. However, even after more than three years of the promised delivery, buyers are having to live in rented accommodation.
“Officials of the builder asked us to shift into the newly built flats, despite the fact that the project still doesn't have the necessary occupancy and completion certificates from Ghaziabad Development Authority. Had we listened to the builder and shifted in, we would have been illegal occupants,” buyers added.
Amit Chauhan, a buyer, told City Spidey, “The developer is not ready to meet us. Whenever we try to arrange a meeting, he avoids it. Most of us have paid more than 90 per cent of the cost of the flat, and some of us even 100 per cent, but we don't have the flats we have paid for.”
On behalf of the developer, Sachin Garg, general manager of the housing project, assured homebuyers that he would try to fix up a meeting with Dhiraj Jain, director of the company, but didn't give buyers an exact date.
