Indifference and apathy of civic bodies and lack of preparations for rainy season is causing severe water logging in Dwarka Sector 7, as also elsewhere in the most well planned sub-city, making it difficult for residents to commute.
Dwarka once again presents a picture of waterlogging and Sector 7 is the prime example of this menace that appears at the very first whiff of rain in the city.
The roads of sector 7 are full of water – especially the ones near Rampahl Chowk and the road leading to Shiksha Bharti School.
Residents had been and are protesting and trying to get the civic bodies to rescue them with better preparation for monsoon, but in vain so far.
AK Parashar, a resident of Sri Agrasen Apartments, Sector 7 said, “The drainage system is completely choked and the civic bodies are not serious about that. There is a need for proper cleaning of drainage so that the roads are not water logged. But this is never done and these days it is difficult to commute to areas near Ramphal Chowk."
The resultant traffic chaos around Ramphal Chowk, already a busy shopping area, leads to frayed tempers.
Nidhi Gupta, a resident of Vinayak Apartments, Sector 10, was at Ramphal Chowk the other day. She said, “The road from Shiksha Bharti School to Ramphal Chowk resembled a canal. It is apparent that civic bodies are simply not serious about preparations for rainy season. It is an irony that one of the most planned sub-cities is facing such an acute problem.”
