Lack of galleries in Noida forces artist to exhibit in Delhi

As Bela Gupta's art exhibition at Habitat Centre, New Delhi, comes to an end today, here's a glimpse of her works for those who missed the show.

Lack of galleries in Noida forces artist to exhibit in Delhi

Where does an artist based in Noida organise an exhibition? Anywhere but Noida, if you require ample space to showcase your work.

Surprised?

That's exactly what Bela Gupta, an artist living in the F-block of Sector 44, Noida, had to do. She would have loved to showcase her work in Noida, but the city does not have an art gallery big enough to accommodate her paintings. Which is why she either opts for Gurgaon or Delhi when she wants to hold an exhibition. Her ongoing exhibition has been organised at Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre in Delhi.

And today happens to be the last day of the exhibition.

But don't worry. We've got you covered. We figured it might be too short a notice for you to make it to the gallery. So we brought the gallery to you!

Take a look:

All of Bela's paintings follow the same theme — the plight of the Indian farmer. Decades have passed since our country's independence and the world views India as a burgeoning economy with a lot to offer. The vast economic and cultural divide between the rich and poor is seldom talked about. While the cities grow glitzier, the farmers continue to live in appalling conditions, suffering, and at times poisoning themselves and their families for paltry debts.

THE STARK CONTRAST: Bela's take on Leonardo DaVinci's The Last Supper

VIDARBHA'S SECRET: Vidarbha, a place right next door to the city of dreams, Mumbai, is in the news for farmer suicides every now and then

ABSURD POLARITIES: Despite making headlines, there is hardly any change to the condition of farmers

THE GREAT DIVIDE: One of Bela's most hard-hitting paintings (Absinthe and Pepsi)

HAPPY MEAL: Sitting next to Ronald McDonald...and starving

For those of you who want to make it to the exhibition, here's a map to the venue. (Open until 8 pm)
