There will be two big covered dustbins soon in each of the societies in Dwarka. Besides, 2600 dustbins to be distributed to different societies. This forms part of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s plan to evolve an efficient solid waste management in Dwarka.

Announcing this, Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat, told residents of different societies of the area that the corporation would be taking many initiatives to address the issue. Each ward in the locality will get a composter. There will be machines at the Dhalao to compress the waste, so that it gets into smaller manageable mass when being carried to the landfill sites. A sum of Rs 23 lakh is estimated to be spent on this, she said addressing the residents at a meeting held at Amba Apartments, Sector 10 on Sunday evening.

President of The All Dwarka Resident Welfare Association (TADRWA) and a resident of Amba Apartments Sector 10, JB Mudgil urged the Mayor to consider encroachments, cleanliness of the area, repair damaged roads and missing street lights. She also urged the mayor to set up weekly markets for the benefit of the residents.
