Delhi Development Authority (DDA) assured to provide basic facilities such as connectivity, transport and water before the allotment of flats under its 2017 housing scheme.

This was declared during an interaction session with the media at DDA Vikas Sadan yesterday. Higher officials, including principal commissioner (housing) JP Agarwal, director of housing RK Malhotra, finance adviser Kamal Joshi, engineer member Mahesh Kumar and others, were present at the venue.

Agarwal said, "We have discussed all the issues with agencies such as Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Delhi Transport Corporation and Delhi Jal Board (DJB). In fact, the DJB has already agreed to provide water pipelines."

The scheme for about 12,000 flats was launched on June 30.

"So far, we have sold about 56,000 forms and about 5,000 registration applications have been received. If we get 15,000-20,000 registrations, we’ll go for the draw by December," Agarwal added.

Another persistent problem was contacting nodal officers and banks at phone numbers provided on DDA's website. Agarwal asked his officials to resolve the problem immediately.

Engineer member Mahesh Kumar said the quality of construction would be top notch. He added, “All primary facilities, such as local markets, will come up as soon as people start living there. There’s no need to worry on that count.”

Though most felt the locations of DDA flats in areas such as Dwarka, Rohini, Narela suffer from poor connectivity and lack other common facilities.

The DDA, however, believes the scheme is on track and has quite a few serious buyers.
