Noida Authority has decided to remove three traffic signals on the stretch between Mamura Chowk and Model Town to ensure smooth traffic.

The Authority has decided to provide two U-turns — one near Fortis Hospital and the other near Model Town — to ease traffic congestion. The U-turns will be functional by September 15, after which the traffic lights will be removed.

Layak Singh, traffic inspector of the city, told City Spidey that the road was being used by about four to five lakh commuters from Ghaziabad and Noida every day. “These signals cause a lot of traffic congestion. Once the U-turns are ready, we will not require the traffic signals and the stretch will be congestion-free."

PK Garg, project engineer of Noida Authority, said, "We are trying to improve the city's traffic condition. Noida Authority will also examine all locations where traffic congestion is a concern in the peak hours."
