The school was supposed to reopen today, but a late-night text to parents confirmed that it would remain closed.

Armaan's parents and relatives demanded justice outside GD Goenka, I'puram

Parents of Armaan Sehgal, the 10-year-old student of GD Goenka Public School, Indirapuram, who died earlier this month, reached the school at 9 am, along with parent associations, to sit outside the school gates on a dharna, demanding justice.

The parents and relatives of the boy told City Spidey that the protest was a retaliation to the lackadaisical attitude of the district administration and the failure of the city’s police in nabbing the heads of the school.

The Sehgal family, relatives and other parents who had joined the protest stood by their demands for the immediate arrest of Ankur Malhotra, chairman; Kavita Sharma, principal; and Meekanshi Dhingra, vice-principal of the school administration, whom they held responsible for the death of Armaan.

The protest also received support from leaders of political parties from Ghaziabad. Leaders from Aam Aadmi Party, Rashtritya Lok Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party and the Congress party were also backing the parents.

Surendra Goyal, former Congress MP from Ghaziabad district, who also present at the protest, said the opposition parties were united in the matter and would take it up with the SSP day after tomorrow. “We are set to raise demands for a CBI investigation into the case,” Goyal added. The political leaders also criticised BJP’s failure in bringing relief to the parents and initiating action. “It is strange that despite the involvement and assurances of a BJP state minister, the grieving family still has to run from pillar to post to get justice,” said a BSP leader.

However, parents of the deceased stuck to their demands for a CBI probe, and other allegations suggesting a conspiracy to hide facts vital to solving the mystery of their son’s death.

The Allahabad High Court is to hear Armaan's case on Thursday.

After issuance of notice from the High Court on Tuesday, Armaan's parents lifted their dharna from outside the school.

The police had registered a criminal case against the principal and the management of the school for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and destroying evidence under sections 304 and 201 of IPC.

The school filed a petition in Allahabad High Court for quashing the FIR and to grant stay on the arrest in the case.

The court issued notice to both parties after the parents filed a caveat in the court in which the parents prayed that they be heard before making any decision. So the court issued notice.

The BSP leader Satyapal Chaudhary, said "On August 10, 2017, the entire opposition including BSP, Congress, SP and RLD would meet the DM and SSP to press the demand for the immediate arrest of the culprits."

Swati Sehgal, mother of Armaan, had confronted SSP H.N. Singh last Friday when the police chief sought a time till Monday.

She asked the reason for delay to arrest the culprits since the student died inside the school premises and the parents were not allowed to visit the crime scene, which she said was heavily dressed up.

The SSP insisted that the culprits would be arrested if evidence was found against them. At this, the mother alleged that the school had tampered with all evidences. She asked when all the CCTVs were found operational, why were the two CCTVs that covered the corridor where Armaan slipped and died not functioning.

The parents submitted an application to the SSP in which they alleged that the school owner Ankur Malhotra, Smita Malhotra, Kavita Sharma, Meenakshi Dhingra, Shilpa Babbar and Sumit Anand have threatened them with being killed.

She alleged that she never demanded a magisterial inquiry but it was ordered to grant them time to approach the High Court.
