Trouble brews at Supertech Eco Citi over slapping of a maid

Within a month of the high-octane episode at Mahagun Moderne, we have fresh trouble brewing at Supertech Eco Citi in Sector 137, Greater Noida.

A maid was allegedly slapped today by an unidentified resident for entering the society premises.

“A few maids working in the society had staged a protest outside the society for not getting their salaries on time — and also for slashed payments. They were also urging other maids to not go in for work,” said Manish Saxena, station house officer (SHO), Surajpur.

According to the FIR, a maid — who was not a part of the protests — was slapped by an unidentified resident for entering the society.

The SHO added, “The maid said she was happy with her employee, and went to work as usual. As soon as she got in, a female resident approached her and asked her the reason for coming into the society. The conversation heated up suddenly, and the resident slapped the maid.”

The SHO also confirmed, “The maid didn’t know the resident. We will conduct an identification march and collect CCTV footage of the spot to look into the matter.”

But what led to the protests?

Here’s what Sangeeta Kumari, a maid who works in the society, had to say: “Earlier, we were paid Rs 2,000 for coming in twice a day. Suddenly, the residents, on their own, decided to slash our salaries. They said we would be paid Rs 1,200 if we came in once and Rs 1,500 for twice a day.”

Rajendra Joshi, a resident, told City Spidey that the rates were decided unanimously in a meeting between the residents and the maids a few days ago. “They had agreed on the payment, and now suddenly they are holding protests to spoil the environment of the society,” he reacted.
