Gurgaon: Mother-son duo forced out of cab in the rains

A 25-year-old man and his aged mother were forced out of the cab near Bhondsi at around 1 pm after an altercation broke out between the driver and the passenger.

Drenched in the afternoon rains, they had to wait for almost half an hour before getting another cab.

The two were attending a family function at Bhondsi and were on their way back to Saket when the incident happened.

The duo hailed from Guwahati, and the son is currently working in Delhi.

According to sources, the cabbie was a local. After the victim threatened to complain to the company about his misconduct, he got angry. And since the mother and son were conversing in their native language, he got even angrier.

Such incidents of misconduct with passengers have seen a rise in the Delhi-NCR.

Speaking to City Spidey, Sudhir Sachdeva, founder and managing director of Holidays to Treasure, said, “Private companies hiring these cabs are ignoring the safety measures stipulated by the government. While hiring staff, the companies don’t follow any guidelines.”

Most passengers have lost faith and don’t feel safe anymore.

Nilesh Tandon, RWA president of Unitech Fresco in Sector 50, said, “Their verification is perhaps done, but still such incidents are being reported. The passengers have lost confidence in the companies. You don’t know who’s genuine and who’s not. The drivers represent their company, and hence, they should be brought under strict-compliance policies.”

A young working executive Kavita Arora from Sector 14 chimed in, “It’s shocking to hear of such incidents. Frankly, I feel scared to use a cab now.”
