It has been four days now that residents of Sector 56 have been receiving muddy drinking water from HUDA.
“On the second day of muddy water supply, I called up HUDA and informed them about the contamination,” said Sudhir Bhardwaj, president of the Sector 56 RWA.
Monsoons are the season for water-borne infections. Since most of the houses in this sector also use the direct drinking-water supply for cooking, this contamination may lead to fatal consequences.
“We are scared, as dirty water can cause severe water-borne diseases. The authorities must check the supply immediately. RO systems are our only saving grace now,” said Suman Sikka, a retired Health Department official who lives in the sector.
Speaking on the issue, Bhoop Singh from HUDA said, “No other sector is facing this issue. We are still trying to determine the cause. There doesn’t seem to be a problem with our overall supply.”
The RWA has also apprised the MCG of the problem.
