Noida: New sectors may find respite from snarls at Sector 76 junction

Residents of the new sectors in Noida may find respite from frequent traffic snarls at the Sector 76 junction, as Noida Authority is likely to restart the development of the remaining part of the road between sectors 77 and 116.

The road was developed a few years ago but a portion of it — about 40 m — was left incomplete. Development work was brought to a halt, owing to a dispute over a piece of land through which the road was to pass.

Once the entire road is developed, sectors 77 and 78 will get linked.

According to an official source with Noida Authority, work will restart after several meetings with farmers. The Authority has managed to convince the farmers that they will be compensated for their lands.

The source added that negotiations were almost complete. He added, “We’ll need to assess whether the previous tender is still applicable. If not, we’ll seek fresh permission from the higher authorities to complete the remaining work. It should take two weeks to complete the remaining stretch.”

Nitin Sharma, a resident of Sector 77, said, “Right now, we have to travel through Noida Link Road, where traffic snarls are frequent. It would be immensely convenient for us if the Authority opens up the closed road between Sectors 77 and 116."

He added, “We won’t need to take the junction at Sector 76, as we will have an alternative option to exit the sector.”
