Gurgaon: Makers of Greenopolis in the dock for delay Greenopolis buyers at the office of district town and planning department

Construction of Greenopolis, a project jointly developed by Orris infrastructure and The 3C Company in Sector 89, Gurgaon, came to a sudden halt, and now the authorities want to know why.

The realtors have been asked by the district town and planning department to submit a detailed plan for the completion of the project.

On Thursday, during a meeting with the department officials, the developers were told to deposit the external development charges (EDC) and internal development charges (IDC) as soon as possible.

They were also told that an inspection will be carried out this week.

The move came in view of repeated complaints from residents about delays in the delivery of the project.

Greenopolis was launched in 2012 as a group housing society. The project was supposed to be delivered by 2016, but construction came to a halt within a short span of time.

“Despite paying 90 per cent of the amount, the project is not going any further — and the residents are suffering!” complained Lalit Khanna, a buyer.

The residents also alleged that developers had taken the EDC and IDC to the tune of Rs 43 crore, but the money has still not been deposited with the government. The sector has no roads, no water supply and no power infrastructure.

“These charges have now snowballed to Rs 80 crore — who will pay the increased amount? What were the realtors doing? Why hadn't they paid the amount earlier?” enquired Ravi Prasad, a buyer, and president of Greenopolis Welfare Association.

District town planner RS Bhath said, “We heard out the buyers on Thursday, and directions were issued to both the developers to submit a detailed report on how they plan to complete the project.”

He added, “A site inspection would be conducted within the next three days. We have also sought details pertaining to the collection of EDC and IDC. I have taken the note of other complaints as well, and they would be addressed in time.”

A representative of Orris Infrastructure, who was present at the meeting on Thursday, said the project will not be delayed for long, and buyers will soon have their flats.
