Commissioner says he will clean Ghaziabad slowly but surely Meeting of RWAs and the municipal commissioner

In a meeting with the RWAs of the city, CP Singh, municipal commissioner of Ghaziabad, urged them to come up with a road map for maintenance work to be done in the city's various zones. Fogging, cleaning of drains, mending potholes on roads, improving water supply and checking the number of stray dogs were some of the highlights of this laundry list.

Acknowledging that Ghaziabad is one of the most polluted cities in the NCR and that there has been little development in the Smart City mission, Singh assured residents of slow but steady action over all the civic infrastructure issues. He said that he would be conducting zone-wise meetings with RWA heads to sort out issues one by one.

Recently, the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation had initiated ward-wise weekly maintenance drives. Through these drives, the corporation channelised its resources to solve the problems of a single ward over a week.

The commissioner has now urged residents of the city to compile all their problems into a single roadmap, be it regarding local sanitation, broken roads, encroachment or garbage disposal.

“The civic problems of the city have accumulated over years and have to be solved step by step. We will require residents to point out problems, so the issues can be incorporated within our plan of action. Since most residents are tax payers, they have the right to enjoy cleanliness and services of the civic body. I am confident that the problems will be solved over time,” said Singh.

Speaking to City Spidey, TP Tyagi from the RWA Federation Ghaziabad said that the heads from the various zones of the city would immediately start work on compiling the civic problems and soon come up with a plan.

Incidentally, the woes of residents from Indirapuram were excluded from the meeting. This was because the area was still under the responsibility of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). The municipal commissioner, however, assured that the area would soon be taken over by the municipal corporation.
