Gzb police gets the rap from Allahabad HC for lax probe into Armaan case

Hearing the Armaan Sehgal death case, the Allahabad High Court today picked on the Ghaziabad police for lax investigation into the matter.

The case was originally filed by the authorities of GD Goenka Public School, Indirapuram, after an FIR was lodged against the school authorities. Following the mysterious death of the 10-year-old inside the school premises on August 1, the police had registered a criminal case against the school management for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and for destroying evidence under sections 304 and 201 of IPC. Following this, the school filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court for quashing the FIR and granting a stay on any arrest in the case.

Speaking to City Spidey, Gurmeet Singh, counsel to Armaan’s family, said the court was dissatisfied with the investigation report submitted by the police and asked for a fresh report.

“The jury was dissatisfied with various parts of the report. The judge also raised questions on the details of the post-mortem report and asked for a fresh report to be submitted. The court granted us an opportunity to file our say in the matter,” Singh said.

The case was heard by Justice Krishna Murari in Court 21, and the case is scheduled to be heard next on October 4.
