Singh assured residents that he would raise their concerns with the Noida officials to resolve their issues.
Noida MLA Pankaj Singh on Saturday assured residents of several societies in various sectors across Noida that he would ensure basic amenities in the region. Residents in sectors 74, 75, 76, 77, 78 and 79 complained that their localities were lacking in basic facilities – parks, streetlights, traffic signals and sewer connections.
Addressing the residents of different residential societies such as Mahagun Moderne, Aditya Urban Casa, Sethi Max Royal, Amrapali Princely Estate, Amrapali Silicon City, Civitech Sampriti, Supertech Capetown, Hyde Park and Aznara Grand Heritage, Singh said he would take up their issues with the Noida officials and solve their problems at the earliest. The meeting was held at the clubhouse of Mahagun Moderne in Sector 78.
“I will raise these issues with top officials of the authority and will follow up with them, so there is timely resolution of problems. The process may take some time, but I will try to settle all the genuine issues,” the MLA promised residents.
Nearly 200 residents crowded the clubhouse and aired grievances that were a matter of grave concern to them. One of the common probleams cited by the residents was the rampant violation of traffic rules that led to congestion on the roads and side lanes. They say they hardly see visible traffic policing in the area, which has led to flagrant violation of traffic rules, wrong parking and traffic snarls.
Vaibhav Kumar, a resident, said, “As the road leading to Sector 78 from the Noida link road lacked any provision to make a U-turn, many residents are forced to drive on the wrong side, causing accidents. Wrong parking has also added to the traffic chaos."
If the new road that is being developed between sectors 116 and 77 is opened, several traffic-related problems can be solved, Kumar said.
Another grievance that the residents highlighted was the burning of garbage in the open, which was spreading poisonous gases and adding to the pollution. Several complaints to the Noida officials have fallen on deaf ears, the residents complained.
Also, several residential complexes are under construction and more and more residents are moving in as and when they are getting possession. Increase in the number of residents is adding to the pressure on amenities too, said Kumar. He added that morning walkers had to use the same road as motorists, slowing traffic down and increasing the chance of mishaps. Several streetlights, too, were on the blink most of the time.
The residents requested the MLA to organise an open hearing in the presence of all the competent officials of the various departments, so the problems can be sorted out on the spot. If such meetings can be held regularly, once a month, they said, it would go a long way in resolving the problems of the residents.
