Himanshi murder: MP, wife, son held in dowry case

The family of the deceased has alleged that her in-laws were demanding SUV. Six persons have been booked under IPC Sec 498A and 304-B which are non-boilable.

A day after the mysterious death of his daughter-in-law, Himanshi, in Ghaziabad, BSP MP Narendra Kashyap, his wife and her son were arrested by the police.

The family of the deceased has alleged that her in-laws were demanding an expensive SUV.

An FIR registered in the case names six persons as accused. All the six have been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 304-B (dowry death) which are non-bailable. The police are on the look out for the three other accused. 

Immediately after the arrest, the lawmaker and his wife complained of not feeling well and were admitted to a local hospital. Later, after the doctors declared them fit, the couple along with their son were presented in a court. The court sent all the three accused to 14-day judicial custody.

Himanshi was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Ghaziabad on Wednesday. She died due to a single gunshot injury in her head. Her in-laws have denied dowry harrassment.

Meanwhile, two licensed weapons, a pistol and a gun, recovered from the residence of Kashyaps have been sent for ballistic test to ascertain whether the bullet that resulted in Himanshi's death was fired from either of the two.
