Noida residents sick of construction sites causing dust pollution

Residents living in societies such as Prateek Wisteria, JM Orchid, Skytech Matrott, Elite Homes and Amarpali Silicon City in sectors 74, 75, 76 and 77 of Noida are unhappy with the dust pollution caused by construction work in the area.

As per the guidelines issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), specific rules have to be followed by the builder during construction. These include sprinkling water on the road surrounding the construction area, covering the building with screens, and ensuring that trucks carrying sand and stone chips are covered and the overall area is dust-free.

Residents say that builders seldom follow these rules.

Yudhvir Singh, a resident of Prateek Wisteria, told City Spidey that they are annoyed with the callous attitude of the builders. The dust produced at the sites trigger breathing problems and affect visibility. They claimed that repeated complaints to Noida Authority have gone unheeded.

Hemant Kumar, another resident of the Sector 77, said that the roads, streets and construction sites are dusty, but neither builder nor the Authority has bothered to sprinkle the areas with water. "Staying in these localities has become difficult for us," he added.

When contacted, project engineer of Noida Authority, MP Sharma, said that he had inspected the sites and dust control was under way.

Hope it is.
