Gurgaon: Ryan International Bhondsi reopened today with low attendance

Fear looms large over the minds of students of Ryan International School, in Bhondsi, and their parents. A clear indicator to this fact was that the attendance was rather slim when the school reopened today after a gap of nine days.

On the ill-fated morning of September 8, 2017, eight-year-old Pradyumn was found dead with his throat slit, outside the school toilet around 7.55 am.

Though the administration of the school has now been taken over by the Haryana Government the ghastly incident still continues to haunt both students and parents. A parent who did not wish to be identified told this reporter, “My son said he will not go to the toilet in school and even if he does it would be with a group of friends.” The children have started to feel scared of lonely corridors and have even become wary of bus staff, another parent shared on grounds of anonymity.

Sources say that although it is the mid of the academic term and admission to other schools would be tough, parents are thinking of shifting their wards from this school to some other institution.

Speaking to City Spidey, Barun Thakur, the father of the victim, said, “Since the case has been handed over to the CBI, the school should not have reopened till instructed by CBI. Lot of destruction of evidence seems to have taken place and we feel that until CBI performs its investigation, the school could have remained shut.”

The wave of insecurity has also spread to children studying in other branches of this school across the city. “My son asked me if I could wait in school for him till it gets over. He was, in fact, asking me if I would accompany him to the toilet,” shared yet another parent from Ryan International in Sector 40.
