Dwarka: ACP firms up a plan of action to remove dark stretches of the sub city The ACP braces up with his team

Dwarkaites will not have to lurch in the dark for long. Literally so as the ACP of the sub-city has recently prepared a plan of action to solve the issue of dark unlit stretches. According to ACP, Rajender Singh, this plan shall be jointly implemented by BSES, DDA and MCD.

In the words of the ACP, “We have decided to work together so that results come fast. We shall start illuminating those parks and stretches first, which are more closely connected to the safety and security of the residential areas and residents.”

The ACP had a meeting with the officials of the civic agencies to ascertain the actual status and number of dark stretches and spots. He told City Spidey, “We got to know from MCD officials that there are 178 parks under MCD and most of these are dark. In the first stage, we shall illuminate 50 parks which are right behind the societies that could be potential security threats. After that, we shall move on to other parks and stretches.”

Singh also informed that it was decided that all street lights of the sub-city would be made functional and maintained on an urgent basis by the DDA. In his words, “We shall be doing this jointly. Also, we shall look forward to carrying the joint survey of DDA, MD and BSES for dark areas in Dwarka, which was stopped earlier.”

Civil volunteers who assist the police force (Police Mitra) are helping the local police and civic bodies to locate the dark stretches.

LP Bhattacharya, who is a Police Mitra and President of Confederation of Dwarka, said, “We have already started making a list of dark places. We are all determined to solve this problem.”
