Gurgaon residents headed for the polling booths early in the morning today for the MCG elections.
The main motive for voting, residents said, was to witness a change in the infrastructure and development of sectors, and to increase focus on civic and community issues.
While sectors 46 and 56 saw a reasonable number of voters, DLF Phase 2 saw a tepid turnout. Though people went about their daily morning walks and jogs, not many seemed interested in casting their votes for the MCG polls. However, the numbers began to increase as the day progressed. Although an overall peaceful process, a power cut at the venue, American Montessori School, led to a little disturbance.

The tent of an independent candidate, which was found within 100 m of the polling station, was also removed by the Gurgaon police.
The turnout was especially low at Sushant Lok 1, with only 10 per cent voters coming out to vote.
