Residents of Amrapali Sapphire have taken to Twitter to troll Amrapali group for not providing most of the amenities promised at the time of flat bookings. The Noida Sector 45 residents even encouraged brand ambassador Mahendra Singh Dhoni to take a stand on the issue. The social media campaign is tagged #Amrapalimisusedhoni and Twitter feeds were flooded with complaints from buyers who had purchased flats from Amrapali Group.
Flat buyers got possession of their homes in December 2011, at a time when construction was yet to be completed. Residents requested the builder to expedite their work several times over the years, but the situation has not improved.
Vikas Singh, a resident of Amrapali Sapphire, told City Spidey that MS Dhoni, being the face of the brand, also had a certain responsibility towards the residents. For many, it was the trust they placed in the cricketer that encouraged them to invest in flats by the Amrapali group. "Dhoni must support buyers and help them solve their problems," added Singh.
Sanjay Nagpal, another resident, told City Spidey that 800 of the 2,200 flats in the society were already occupied, but basic amenities such as lifts, water and electricity supply were still in a sorry state.
Speaking to the media at a press conference, MS Dhoni said that he would get in touch with the builder group to resolve the issue. The captain of Indian cricket team also said that promises had to be delivered, irrespective of circumstances.
"We are glad Dhoni is supporting us. We feel at least a bit assured that the problems will be dealt with soon," added Nagpal.
When City Spidey took up the matter with Anil Sharma, CMD of Amrapali group, he said that the market value for property had taken a nosedive and financial turmoil in the company had added to the problems. "Construction work for Phase I of Amrapali Sapphire is 95 per cent complete, and work for Phase II would be completed in two to three months. We will also start registration of flats soon," assured Sharma.
To further clarify the matter, City Spidey spoke to PK Aggarwal, ACEO of Noida Authority. "The Authority will send a notice to Amrapali to complete the pending work in the society immediately," said Aggarwal.
