Noida moves a step closer to having a copter in its fire brigade

Nodia Fire Department moved a step closer to acquiring a helicopter brigade to tackle fire in high-rises. The Uttar Pradesh Fire Department has in principle agreed to meet this demand from the Noida Fire Brigade.

A high-level committee has been set up to study the proposal and give it a final shape. The proposal will then be sent to the state government for a final go ahead.

Harvir Singh Malik, Deputy Director of the Fire Department, told City Spidey, “Following the agreement in principle, a blueprint for the fire-and-rescue helicopter is being prepared. The department is also discussing where the helipad should be made and how water will be made available to the helicopter. Efforts are on to identify firemen who will be trained to use the helicopter.” Malik added that the cost of the helicopter and its maintenance would be borne jointly by Noida and Greater Noida Authorities. Later, this facility could also be shared with the adjoining Ghaziabad and Meerut districts.

The twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida have the maximum number of high-rise buildings than any other city in Uttar Pradesh. Both the state government and the fire department have been worried over a lack of a fire-fighting system for tall buildings.
