Here's one reason why Dwarka streets are squeaky clean

The Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get-together (ANHLGT) has vowed to keep Dwarka clean. Our tip of the hat to the group for the initiative.

Here's one reason why Dwarka streets are squeaky clean

If you live in Dwarka, you might be astonished to find a group of women cleaning up your kerb.

To kill your curiosity, it's probably the Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get-together (ANHLGT) carrying out one of their drives.

ANHLGT is a group tirelessly working to achieve its dream of a clean Dwarka. The group organises cleaning campaigns in various sectors across Dwarka, at times with the help of school students.

Their most recent drive included students from The Indian Heights School, Sector 23, Dwarka.

The president of the ANHLGT, Cicily Kodiyan, is a resident of Sheetal Vihar Apartments, Sector 23.

"Our executive members from Dwarka sectors 6, 9, 10, 22 and 23 spread the word about our campaigns," says Kodiyan. "We clean lanes, main roads and even market premises. Our slogan is ‘Green, Clean, Beautiful, Safe and Healthy Dwarka’.

ANHLGT relies mostly on word-of-mouth and social media to spread awareness about the group. The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has always helped them with the campaigns, easing things a bit for the group.

A resident of Skylark society and general secretary of the group, Shamira Ashroff, says, "Our initiatives are getting popular with time. I am happy with the momentum we are building. Now, we even get requests from residents to carry out such campaigns in their areas these days."

We plan to cover the entire Dwarka," says Kodiyan."With the support of residents and their RWAs, we we want to maximise participation in the campaigns. I appeal to all Dwarkaites to support us in making the sub-city a clean and green place. Together, we will surely achieve our goal."
