Metro in, Mecon out of service

Metro in, Mecon out of service

Stepping out of the society has become quite a task for residents of Mecon Apartments in Sector 62, Noida. Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has installed barricades to restrict passage through the service lane in front of the society. Residents say NMRC gave them no prior notice.

The blocking of the service lane is causing Mecon residents a lot of inconvenience, as the only entry and exit gate of the society opens out to the now-barricaded lane.

Secretary of the Mecon Apartments RWA, PR Chandna, told City Spidey that they had met TS Mudgal, project manager, NMRC, while the barricades were still being placed in the service lane. The project engineer had promised residents a wide access through the service lane, but no such arrangements were made. On the contrary, the lane was narrowed and even closed from both sides.

Now parents have to go all the way to the main road to pick up and drop their school-going children.

Radhe Mohan, president of the RWA, said even the main road has been narrowed to allow only one heavy vehicle to pass at a time.

A NMRC spokesperson, told City Spidey that she would only be able to respond when she receives a ground report from the site. She said it would take a day to collect the information.
