Noida

Burglary in Amrapali Sapphire: A house in Amrapali Sapphire in Sector 45 was burgled on Friday. The house belongs to one, Rustam Yadav, who works in an MNC. Burglars said to have entered the 16 floor of the building after breaking open an iron gate and a wooden door and decamped with jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh. The house owners were away at work at the time of the incident. A case of theft has been registered at the Sector 39 police station.

Meet on school fee hike ended inconclusively: A meeting of District Magistrate NP Singh with principals of various schools of the city on Friday failed to resolve the issue of fee hike. While 10 per cent of the schools increased the fees by 10 per cent, a few have not effected any hike. Some principals defended the increase saying it was necessitated to increase salary and dearness allowance of teachers and other staff. The administration is looking into the legal aspects of the issue.

Greater Noida

Students stir over alleged sexual harassment: Students of Gautam Buddha University were agitated over alleged sexual harassment of a girl student by one of the faculty members on the campus. More than 200 of them held a protest on Friday. The complainant, a first-year student, was debarred from taking the examination for falling short of attendance. She accused the faculty member of making obscene proposal when she met him in his cabin for permission to appear in the examination.

Gurgaon

Fire safety app: A fire safety app was launched by a fire consultancy service based in the city. Users of the app can navigate through their buildings in case of fire and alert the nearest fire station. Madan Lal Bishnoi, founder of the Global Fire Consultancy Services, who created the app, is a retired fire officer from state fire department.

Bike-auto ban on e-way sought: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) sought a ban on two- and three-wheelers from plying on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. The NHAI approached the state government to implement the ban in view of increase in the number of accidents on the main carriageway involving such vehicles.

Mystery death of a cabbie: A taxi driver was mysteriously found dead on Friday morning in an MUV parked near Rajiv Chowk since Wednesday. The deceased, Sudesh Kumar, who used to work for a trader in Laxmi Bazaar, was missing for two days before his body was found in the car. Since the body bore no injuries, police is passing it off as natural death.
