Noida
Senior citizen leaps to death: A 65-year-old resident jumped to his death from his 1904 A flat on 19th floor at Amrapali Platinum in Sector 119, Noida, Vijay Kumar, who is retired from Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), took the extreme step at 1 am last night when his family was asleep. He was said to have been suffering from severe depression after his retirement in 2011.
Probe ordered into mishap involving school buses: Two days after an HCL engineer and an auto driver lost their lives in a road accident, District Magistrate NP Singh ordered a probe into the incident. The fact that two school buses were involved in the fatal accident prompted the authorities to initiate the move. City Magistrate Bachchu Singh is assigned with the task of investigating the cause of the mishap. Meanwhile, driver of one of the buses is still absconding.
Online portals for land deals: Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has launched online portals for investors, allottees and the general public. The portals aim at bringing about transparency, ensuring speed, effectiveness and doing away with red tape in allotment of industrial land and sanctioning building layout plan among other services.
Resident lodges complaint against ex-RWA president: A resident of Dhawalgiri apartment, Sector 11, Noida, lodged a police complaint against former RWA president Santanu Mital and his brother Abhinav Mittal. Rajat Rawal complained that the brothers were harassing him by sending abusive messages and branding him as a migrant as he is from Uttarakhand. The police has registered a NCR (non-cognizable report) under IPC section 504.

Fraud case against realty group GM: The managing director and two directors of Vatika Group, a real estate developer, are facing charges of cheating and fraud. Rajkamal Bhatia, a resident of Malviya Nagar, New Delhi, filed an FIR against them with the Sector 29 police station under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. He complained that the company failed to deliver his villa even after taking a deposit of rupees one crore from him.
Rural jaunt for IAS and IPS: In a novel initiative, Haryana Government has made rural stint compulsory for IAS and IPS officers. Henceforth, they will spend two days and one night in any village of the sub-division of their first posting. During their sojourn, they would listen to public grievances. This was disclosed by State Chief Secretary DS Dhesi at a seminar on excellence in training. The initiative is a follow-up of PM Narendra Modi's suggestion made on the 'Civil Services Day'.
