Ghaziabad
After Rahul episode, apartments stumble upon can of worms: Several apartment associations have complained of fraudulent forms of tenant and servants. They have come up with 100-odd such forms compiled by residents at a meeting of the Federation of Apartment Owners' Association (FedAOA) of Ghaziabad on Sunday. Though bearing a police stamp and seal, these forms have several details either missing or prima facie wrong. This development came two days after a processed verification form bearing the name and photograph of Rahul Gandhi was found with a police seal in Indirapuram.
Police plans to speed up traffic on highways: Ghaziabad traffic police has claimed to have plans to speed up traffic movement on the national highways passing through the city. It has undertaken measures, with the help of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), to ensure speedy passage to commuters. During peak hours, traffic the NH-24, NH-58 and NH-91 literally crawls on the congested highways.
Plan to ensure groundwater recharge: The Ghaziabad district administration has decided to rejuvenate 40 ponds in four development blocks. The decision has been taken with a view to allow groundwater to recharge during the upcoming monsoon. As per a plan, 10 water bodies each would be rejuvenated in four blocks – Razapur, Bhojpur, Murad Nagar and Loni.
Noida
Power cuts continue to haunt residents: There is no let-up in outages in the city. Several sectors are reeling under power cuts even after residents took representation to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) on Saturday. This has affected the water supply system in several parts of the city including Sectors 26, 20, 11, 19 which witnessed power cuts in the early hours of Sunday.
Youth held for abducting nephew for ransom: A 19-year-old youth was arrested with his accomplice for abducting his four-year-old nephew while a third accused is absconding. Salim, with the help Mahfooz, 20, Mahboob, 21, kidnapped Rizwan for ransom from Chotpur village in Greater Noida for ransom on Thursday. They released the child after his family paid up Rs 5 lakh.
Gurgaon
Circle rates to be slashed: With a view to address the slump in the real estate, the Gurgaon administration has sent a proposal to the Haryana Government for cutting down circle rates of properties by 15 per cent this year. Property market in the city is in the grip of a downturn for long. Buyer sentiment nosedived during the previous two financial years with circle rates remaining unchanged.
Plan to decentralise waste management: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has decided to involve residents in waste management in the city. The civic body plans to decentralise solid waste management with the installation of household waste treatment plants in eight condominiums initially. If the plan succeeds, the MCG will implement it in all residential societies.
