Noida

Police help sought against child trafficking: The Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) has sought police help to check a child trafficking racket operating in Noida. Representatives of the RWA federation approached SP (city) Dinesh Yadav demanding crackdown on the mafia which kidnaps and uses children as beggars. Yadav assured action in the matter and said the city police would hold a meeting with RWAs soon.

Noida Police plans tactical training for officers: Having lost its officers in an anti-encroachment drive in Mathura, the city police has realised the it is lacking in combat skills. The force is now contemplating on providing tactical training to its staff to ensure their combat readiness. In this direction, the police department wants to set up a firing range in the district to improve the shooting skills of police personnel. In the absence of a firing range, the officers are not undergoing the mandatory yearly shooting training sessions.

Greater Noida

Panchayat threat over cow slaughter: After filing a complaint of cow slaughter at Jarcha police station, family members of accused in lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq are planning to convene a panchayat to press for FIR against Akhlaq's family. Sanjay Rana, father of a prime accused in the lynching case who had filed the police complaint against unnamed accused, threatened to call panchayat if the police does not book Akhlaq's kin in the case. The development is expected to worsen law and order situation in the village.

Ghaziabad

Two suicides in an hour: Two suicides, that too, within an hour of each other, in the township left residents of Crossings Republik in deep shock. In the first incident, a 53-year-old woman allegedly hanged self from the ceiling of her flat in Ajnara Apartment, at around 4.30 pm, while in the second, a 33-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off from the balcony of her 13-storey flat in Panchsheel Apartment.

GURGAON

Fake state roadways buses impounded: Regional transport authority (RTA) impounded 10 private buses illegally plying on Jaipur-Delhi route on National Highway 8 on Friday. These vehicles were painted to look like state roadways buses. While four of the buses were faking to be owned by Rajasthan tourism, six resembled Haryana roadways buses.

Cops stumble upon criminal antecedents of juveniles: Three juveniles arrested on Thursday morning for suspicious conduct turned out to be involved in murder and robbery. The accused revealed that they had shot a person a day ago, in the Sector 5 area and were planning an armed robbery at the time of their arrest.

Five cops charged with murder of Gadoli suspended: Five Gurgaon policemen, who are accused of killing gangster Sandeep Gadoli in an alleged fake encounter in Mumbai in February, were suspended on Friday. The five suspended policemen — sub-inspector Praduman Yadav, constable Vikram Singh , head constable Paramjeet Ahlawat, Deepak and Jitendra — have been "missing" since the SIT filed an FIR in Mumbai.

Section 144 in the city till Wednesday: The district magistrate has ordered imposition of Section 144 CrPC in Gurgaon till August 8. The order, issued in view of a call for protest by Jat groups to revive their reservation stir, bans assembly of five or more people and carrying of weapons like firearms, swords and lathis.
