‘Senior Citizen’ is now master of its destiny

Exasperated over the builder’s indiscretion, who allegedly does nothing for their welfare despite charging each household a hefty amount towards maintenance, residents of Senior Citizen Society in Greater Noida decided not to be cheated any more.

Among the steps the irate flat owners have taken are: constitution of a Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of the society and a pledge not to pay maintenance charges to the builder any more. They are confident both these measures will empower them and teach the builder a lesson.

Located in Sector-Pi III, the Senior Citizen Society is one of the oldest societies of Greater Noida. It came up in 2005 and ever since the builder and residents are constantly at loggerheads over some issue or the other.

The primary concern of the residents is erratic water supply. Eleven years after the inception of the society, they lament that water supply has not been streamlined till date.

Speaking to City Spidey, a resident, Suman Bharadwaj pointed out that ever since the society was developed in 2005, the builder has been collecting monthly maintenance charges without fail. However, he did not add a single facility for the flat owners over these years.

“Now that we have an RWA of our own to take care of our welfare as well as the betterment of the society, we won’t be any misappropriation of our hard earned money,” he asserted.

When contacted by City Spidey, ACEO of Greater Noida Authority, PC Gupta, said that the onus of development and providing facilities to residents lies with the builder. Hence, action can be taken against the builder if he is found guilty of misappropriation.
