Noida

FIR over defaced poster: Defacement of the poster of Prime Minister Narendra Modi near Sector 35 infuriated the Noida unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party filed a complaint with the police and lodged an FIR against unknown Congress workers. It alleged that the culprits deliberately disfigured the poster by smearing grease on it to mark protest against two years of BJP rule.

Ghaziabad

GMC employees threaten to prolong stir: Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation workers’ union members, who went on a flash strike on Tuesday in protest against assault on Mohan Nagar zonal in-charge, issued an ultimatum to authorities. The employees threatened to continue with their agitation till those involved in the attack are not arrested. On Monday, an unidentified person threw ink on zonal in-charge Sunil Rai and escaped during a meeting with residents of Shalimar Garden.

Protest over tampering of meter: A group of residents of Amrapali `Sapphire’ complex took out a candlelight march at the office of Noida’s superintendent of police (SP) in Sector 6 on Tuesday. They were protesting against Amrapali Group over alleged tampering of their electricity meters. The protestors also shouted slogans against the police for not lodging an FIR. Acknowledging the complaint against the realty firm, circle officer of Noida Police assured an investigation into the case and action.

Gurgaon

Patient raped by hospital worker: A 22-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment at Government Medical College in Mewat, was allegedly raped by a member of the hospital staff on Monday night. A case of rape, under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, has been registered against the unknown accused, who is at large. The victim, mother of three, was admitted to the hospital since June 1.

Bus blast triggers alert: The city is put on alert with increased security after a bomb went off inside a bus in Fatehabad on Tuesday. Two persons were injured in the incident. Crowded and sensitive places have been put under heavy security with random checks and frisking being carried out all the time.
