Those Indirapuram runners in their fluorescent green tees...

You might see a motley crew of IT professionals, housewives and children dressed in fluorescent green tees running together on the streets of Indirapuram. That's how most stumble upon Indirapuram Runners, aka IPR.

The brainchild of a handful of Indirapuram residents, the open-for-all group includes newbies and seasoned runners alike. It was in 2013 that Samarth Mishra, Tanvir Kazmi, Ravi Maskara, Mayank Gupta, Shalabh Gupta and Manish Verma thought of forming the group as a means to promote long-distance running and a healthy lifestyle.

Interested runners can join the group via its Facebook page, their feature on the Little Black Book or via referrals. In just three years, the group has grown from six to more than 800 active members from Indirapuram, Vaishali and Vasundhara.

IPR has had running partners in a few events in the NCR, but it also organises solo events, which generally require a registration fee of Rs 500. One of its running events, named Spring Run, was organised in 2015. Speaking to City Spidey, founding member Samarth Mishra says there is just one criterion for joining the group — a love for running. "Our youngest member is 10 and our oldest is 65," he adds.

The members of the group are always on an adrenaline rush, and they never slow down. The running is not limited to Indirapuram, Vasundhara or Vaishali; it extends to major events in the NCR and across the country, such as ADHM (Airtel Delhi Half Marathon) and SCMM (Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon). That's not all, the group also conducts mini marathons.

Most of the group's runs are organised in and around The Swarn Jayanti Park at Niti Khand 2. The starting point is usually Mahagun Mansion, and the runners go where their feet take them.

One of the primary reasons for the success of the group is the planning. Right from the venues and the routes to snacks and refreshments, everything is decided on a well-communicated network on social media. A quick scroll through its WhatsApp group will give you a clear idea of the excitement and the zeal with which members put in their support, suggestions and ideas on how to make each session a success.

Participants proudly claim that IPR is the most enthusiastic running group in the NCR. Why don't you find out for yourself?
