Things go south at Galaxy North Avenue

Noida Extension has a homebuyer protest on its hands — and this time it's the Galaxy Group facing the music.

Things go south at Galaxy North Avenue Homebuyers protest at the office of Galaxy Group in Sector 63, Noida, on Saturday.

Flatbuyers and residents of Galaxy North Avenue, a residential project in Noida Extension, protested against the Galaxy Group in front of its office in Sector 63, Noida, on Saturday.

About 70 people gathered for the protest and demanded that their money be returned. Buyers said that they booked their flats in 2010 and were promised possession by December 2014. But work on the interiors is yet to be completed. Buyers also claim that at the time of booking, the builder’s representative had said that this project was related to the Gaur builders. But they later came to know that Gaur had nothing to do with it.

According to buyers, out of 850 flats in the project, the builder gave possession to only 20 persons, and that too in April 2016. Those who have shifted in complain of poor building material used in the project and facilities not being up to the mark. Residents have to shell out Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 every month for electricity, but no bill or receipt is ever given to them by the maintenance staff.

Sanjay Singh, a resident of Galaxy North Avenue, said that the society lifts do not work half the time. "Galaxy Group took an advance payment of two years against maintenance charges at the rate of Rs 2.25 per square feet, but what is being provided is just third-grade service," he said.

"Just four guards have been stationed at the society in the name of security. Two are on duty in the day and two at night. There are no CCTV cameras or intercom facility," Singh added.

Sunil Tripathi, a buyer, said that he had booked a flat in March 2011, investing all his hard-earned money in the project. However, it doesn't seem like he'll be getting possession anytime soon. "Whenever we approach the representative of the builder, we are abused and threatened with consequences," Tripathi added.

When City Spidey took up the matter with Arvind Jain, manager of Galaxy Group, he said he would organise a meeting between buyers, residents and Rajesh Durrani, the director of the group, next Sunday at Gaur City in Noida Extension. "In this meeting, all problems will be discussed, and Rajesh Durrani will provide solutions to all pending issues," Jain said.
