Music Konnects G’gram crooners at The Nook

From trained classical singer to professional bathroom singer, the event brought musically inclined Gurgaon residents together at the Sohna Road hotspot.

Music Konnects G’gram crooners at The Nook A song for every musical soul looking for its escape, its drug, its freedom!

Life without music would be a mistake!

For G-towners who agree with Friedrich Nietzsche; who can’t go a day without music, The Nook on Sohna Road was the place to be Sunday evening for some unplugged jamming to the beat of unchained melodies. From Geeta Bali to Sunidhi Chauhan, from Asha Bhosle to Ellie Goulding, from Kishore da to Bob Dylan – there was a song for every musical soul looking for its escape, its freedom, its oxygen!

And all this thanks to Music Konnects, a group of like-minded professionals from across Gurgaon for whom “music is not what they do… it’s who they are – the very sound of their soul,” says MK’s Geetika Moudgil Sharma, a resident of Primrose, Sohna Road, who along with Nitiraj Singh (Parsavnath Greenville) and Dhruv Roy (Acasia, Vatika) brought a bunch of G-towners together for a medley of soul-stirring song and dance.

Introducing the 90-minute soft numbers section to begin with, MK provided everyone, from the trained classical singer to the professional bathroom singer, a platform to showcase their passion and the audience clapped or clicked along in uninhibited delight. PriceWaterhouse Cooper’s Nitiraj set the mood with the flawless Italian rendition of Do Lafzon Ki Hai…, with Suman taking it from there. Harjeet Kohli from Palam Vihar then regaled the audience with Yeh Moh Moh Ke Dhage, followed by Rediff’s Preeti Pandey (Maruti Vihar) singing the peppy Befikar Zindagi – a number that she had written and composed!

Soul-stirring melodies set the tone of the evening

As the band took a much needed beer-break, guitar teacher Ozim’s budding musicians, all 5-12-year-olds, presented some groovy strumming to English favourites. All through, the Djembe kept foot-tapping pace with the rhythm as it coursed its way through adagio to allegro. Palam Vihar’s much-tattooed dynamite Sheetal Mehra soon pumped up the jam with the snazzy Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe that triggered the high jinks, as did Aaj kal tere meri pyaar ke charche.

“Music truly connects and MK is the ideal getaway for people caught in the hustle and bustle of life. The fact that we follow a no-mike policy emphasises the direct Konnect as each and everyone sings or claps along, away from their phones and I-pads and Whatsapp for once,” points out the ever-smiling Geetika, speaking for her co-hosts Nitirai and Dhruv too. “It’s a state of meditation for us, and when people enjoy the evening and say it reminded them of their college days, the whole effort is totally worth it.”

The whole idea began at the Pint Room, Crosspoint Mall, Phase 4 last year, and from “a small group of 50-odd music lovers, we have grown into a 5000-strong community, soon to have our very own anthem, a mix of English, Punjabi and Hindi lyrics, composed and written by our very own in-house talents,” Geetika tells City Spidey, saving the details for the mega launch party planned soon.

After the super success of Sunday’s do, G-towners are certainly thirsty for more firmly believing that “if music be the food of life, well, play on,” with due apologies to the Bard!

Audience could not resist from crooning and dancing to the tunes
