Ganpati Apts: Kids get the best out of waste

Children of Ganpati Apartments, Sector 9, Dwarka, showcased their talents at the "Best Out Of Waste" event organised at the society's community hall today.

Participants made handicrafts out of waste material and exhibited their creations at the event. Be it an old piece of cloth, scrap paper, pieces of cardboard or shards of glass, the children managed to utilise the waste the best they could. Things that would have normally been thrown into the dustbin were ingeniously transformed into everything from a pretty flower pot to a doll to a toy house!

Results of the event will be declared tomorrow and the winners will be felicitated at the society's Independence Day celebrations.

The programme was organised by the children's club of the society under the guidance of S Kashyap, a resident.

"Our intention was to make kids understand the importance of waste material," said Kashyap. "This was an excellent opportunity for them to let their imagination run wild — and they excelled at it."

The panel of judges included S Kashyap, Kshitiz Pasricha and Kusum Singh. Pasricha, who is also a member of the children’s and the teenegers' society clubs, said, "We wanted the children to get their creative juices flowing this summer vacation, and it was a great experience to see theim participating with so much enthusiasm."
