Gurugram: A nagar kirtan (religious procession) at DLF Phase 1 turned out to be a big draw. Organised on Saturday to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of first Guru Nanak Dev, the procession drew hundreds of devotees.

This was the first Nagar Kirtan organised by Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, H Block in DLF 1. Led by five men dressed as the Panj Pyare (the five beloved ones), the procession was joined by enthusiastic residents who took part in the celebration with devotion.

Sangat (accompaniment) from all over the DLF and other areas joined in for the celebrations. The procession consisted of a group of young schoolgirls singing hymns and devotional songs supported by a live band with drums beats and open trucks with ladies sitting atop singing kirtans (devotional songs).

The Palki Sahib (carriage of the guru) was led by devotees in cars, motorcycles and on foot. They were sweeping and sprinkling water and flower petals on the road along the route of Palki Sahib.

The Sangat was seen distributing prasad (offering) along the entire route.
