Delhi traffic police issues traffic alert near JNU campus

New Delhi: Delhi traffic police on Thursday issued traffic alert for commuters moving around JNU campus in South Delhi due to demonstration against January 5 violence.

As per Delhi traffic police, both carriageways of Baba Gang Nath Marg from Nelson Mandela Marg and Aruna Asaf Ali Marg have been blocked for traffic movement.

The Baba Gang Nath Marg, leading to JNU main entrance gate, had been mostly closed by the police after the violence in the university campus.

“Baba Gang Nath Marg is closed (both carriageways) by local police from Nelson Mandela Marg and Aruna Asaf Ali Marg due to demonstration,” the Delhi Traffic Police tweeted on Thursday morning.

Another tweet of Delhi traffic police read, “Baba Gangnath Marg (both carriageways) by local police from Nelson Mandela Marg and Aruna Asif Ali Marg due to demonstration.”

Violence swept the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus on January 5, as several masked individuals thrashed students and teachers inside the campus with wooden and metal rods.
