The RWA at Amrapali Village, a residential society on Kala Patthar road, Ghaziabad, started a week-long tree-planting drive on Sunday.

Residents of the society planted around 200 saplings of different varieties across the compound. The plan is to plant over 500 saplings in the society.

Residents said that despite repeated requests to the builder's maintenance office, the staff did not take any initiative to plant trees. The builder has paid no consideration to the society's green cover and left little space for lawns and trees.

The drive was quite a success among residents, with people pooling in money for the cause and toiling all day. Abdur Rehman, a resident of Amrapali Village, said that it will be the children's turn to plant saplings on Monday.
