With reports of dengue spreading in the city, residents of Kirti Apartments in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension, East Delhi, have prepared themselves to fight the spread of the disease.

The RWA of the apartment has issued guidelines to residents, asking them to clean their kitchen every day and to not leave left-over waste in the open even for a day.

The advisory has asked residents to inform the RWA if they find garbage lying around in any part of the apartment complex. Residents have been instructed to not throw polythene bags in the apartment. The RWA has also purchased an anti-mosquito fogging machine.

Alka Gulati, a resident and the in-charge of management of the society, said, “We can’t just rely on the MCD’s drive against mosquitoes. Being responsible citizens, we have decided to do something ourselves too.”

Gulati added, “A couple of weeks back, a pamphlet regarding awareness of an anti-mosquito drive was distributed by EDMC [East Delhi Municipal Corporation], but no fogging or pesticide control has been done so far.”
