A significant portion of the main footpath along the boundary wall of Bharat Vandana Apartments, Sector 19, Dwarka, caved in recently.

Residents said that the 10-foot-long portion over the storm water drains caved in due to the rains about a week ago, and for pedestrians, it is a disaster waiting to happen.

Prabhat Singh, president of the RWA, said, “This footpath is important to us, as we use it to go to parks and other areas in the locality. Due to the depth of the storm water drain, the situation has become dangerous. It seems that the whole stretch of footpath from the main gate till the Master Plan Road No 205 is weak. DDA should take the issue seriously.”

Sunil Sareen, a resident and joint secretary of Dwarka Forum, said, “The damaged portion was left ignored for three days. Only after repeated complaints has the DDA put tin barricades at both ends of the damaged stretch. But this is not the solution. It should be repaired urgently so any untoward incident can be avoided.”

A DDA official, on condition of anonymity, told City Spidey, “The subject is in our knowledge and we have already put a barricade there. This portion will be repaired soon.”
