The AOA Federation of Ghaziabad, headed by Colonel (Retired) TP Tyagi, wrote a letter to the chairperson of the National Green Tribunal demanding implementation of the closure notice issued to Continental Carbon India Limited, a carbon manufacturing factory, located on NH 24 in Ghaziabad.

The letter stressed on the environmental harms caused by the factory. The members demanded strict implementation of the closure order issued by the UP Pollution Control Board in August 2015.

They also demanded monetary compensation for the damage caused by pollution from the factory. The factory still remains active and the members, in the letter, inquired about what led to the reversal of the order by the UP Pollution Control Board.

The Federation demanded immediate sealing off of the factory. It could be allowed to open only if it installed advanced pollution control measures and paid Rs 20 crore as compensation. They also suggested that the money could be used to improve infrastructure, public transport and security in Ghaziabad.
