A resident of Sector 5, Gurgaon, has alleged of being duped by a private builder of Rs 1.35 crore in the name of booking a flat.

Sunita Sharma, the resident, has filed a complaint of cheating and fraud against the builder. She said that she booked a flat in 2012 in Emaar MGF’s upcoming project in Sector 64. After the completion of the documentation and other formalities, the booking amount was paid and installations were made subsequently. The company committed to give possession of flat within two years.

However, the builder stopped the construction and was unable to complete the project. When Sharma contacted the builder, no answer was given to her.

The police has found the complaint genuine and has sent the case to Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) for further investigation. ACP Hawa singh, CPRO of Gurgaon police, said, “A case has been registered against the developer Emaar MGF for taking complete payment and not giving possession (of the flat). Investigations are going on.”
